About Us

Snapdoor began when long-time real estate broker Bob Mathew noticed that money was being left on the table in a home sale in which he represented a motivated buyer. If the parties were better informed, everyone could have benefited. He discussed the idea of making the offer process more transparent with Dylan Kohler, who suggested, based on his experience developing tracking and collaboration systems for Hollywood studios, that transparency be expanded to all steps of the home sale process, not just the offer step. This would address the biggest complaint that sellers have about real estate agents, that they feel left in the dark. The result is Snapdoor, a simple-to-use trust and transparency tool for agents to demonstrate their value to sellers and to land more listings.

Dylan Kohler

Dylan Kohler

Co-Founder and CTO

As co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Dylan helped transform Snapdoor from an idea into a working system. Dylan worked for two decades in Hollywood, where he won an Academy Award® for helping develop the world's first digital feature animation system, was the first technology hire for DreamWorks Animation, and gained extensive experience in turning the complex processes of studio production into easy-to-use digital tools. Extending the idea of transparency, Dylan built Snapdoor around a full real estate pipeline, a flow that allows sellers and buyers to control and track the entire sales process. His disciplined approach to development has made Snapdoor into a highly intuitive and flexible system that lets consumers track the sale of their home, agents showcase their value, and everyone to be in sync. He has Computer Science and Creative Writing degrees from Stanford, and an MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute. He has run multiple marathons, but now the daily workout that makes him sweat is learning Spanish.
